Team Lead Engineering
ClimatePartner, Munich
Engineering manager and tech lead for the team behind the Carbon Footprint Calculator (CFC), ClimatePartner's B2B SaaS for corporate and product carbon accounting.
- Building the team. Grew the team from 3 to 8 engineers and led two teams in parallel through their merger. Developed one junior to mid level, two mid-level engineers to senior, and one of them on to staff.
- Staffing the department. Drove engineering hiring for all product teams, bringing in people with the right skills and mindset.
- AI in the product. Shipped a PCF report extractor that turns uploaded supplier reports into emission factors: AI extracts the data, and a human approves it before it's used. Built AI-based emission factor matching with the Data Science & AI team, and an AI translation pipeline that keeps the product available in six languages.
- AI-augmented delivery. Wrote an evidence-based position on agentic coding (METR, DORA, GitClear) and ran the department's AI workshop on it. Led the engineering side of the agentic development framework we built with product - shared skills and MCP integrations the team works with every day. ~73% of my 2026 commits are co-authored with Claude Code.
- Product OS. Built together with our product lead: strategy, initiatives and PRDs live in the repo next to the code - one shared context for engineers, product and AI agents.
- Technical direction. Moved scattered services into one monorepo - now also the single context source for AI agents - and streamlined CI/CD, a shared frontend app shell and supply-chain security. 211 PRs reviewed.
- Measurable delivery. Introduced DORA metrics and golden signals as the team's yardstick. Production deployments up ~4x year over year, without a rise in production errors.
- Collaboration. Product and design in one loop - shared specs, preview deployments as the review surface, design artifacts in the repo - plus joint initiatives with Data Science & AI, Data Engineering, Platform and the emission factor database team.
